Research & Insights
We listen before we design. We test before we claim.
Research is how we decide what to build and how we check whether it helps. This page explains our methods, our ethical boundaries and how we label evidence.
Research streams
Desk research
Peer-reviewed and grey literature, rights and service mapping — dated and graded for evidence quality.
Discovery
Opt-in interviews and anonymous feedback, never recruiting people through visible identity signals alone.
Co-design
Participatory workshops with clearly scoped decisions and a transparent compensation policy.
Usability
Task-based testing, comprehension checks and accessibility reviews.
Evaluation
Measures matched to each product’s intended outcomes — with limitations stated openly.
How we label evidence
Everything we publish distinguishes between:
- Peer-reviewed evidence — published, reviewed research
- Established theory — frameworks widely used in psychology and social science
- Exploratory research — early findings from small or new studies
- Lived experience — insight shared by the people most affected
- Hypotheses — ideas we are still testing
Ethical boundaries
- We never diagnose users or infer sexual orientation, gender identity or mental health from how they use a tool.
- Sensitive identity information is optional and exceptional — not collected by default.
- Product analytics, research participation and newsletters are kept separate.
- We do not publish small-group quotes or details that could identify someone.
- We use qualified supervision and independent ethical review where required.
- We provide referral information — not crisis support, therapy or legal advice.
Taking part in research
We are preparing our consent, ethics and data-protection processes. Participation will open only when they are in place — and it will always be optional, informed and withdrawable.
